Therapeutic Yoga will help individuals suffering from the effects of stress, pain, illness or injury. Therapeutic Yoga uses gentle yoga postures, breathing and meditation in combination with the principles of anatomy and physiology to reduce pain, and tension. Once tense muscles have been released muscles are strengthened to improve stability in the body. Our clients include athletes that need to improve performance and reduce pain, from injury, individuals that suffer from chronic pain and individuals that are suffering due to illness or injury.
Let us help you feel good, let us help you improve your quality of life.
Your first appointment will be an assessment and discussion to determine your goals and develop a treatment plan. In a private appointment your Teacher will take you through a program that is specifically designed to meet your needs. Programs will evolve in accordance with you progress. In a pre-registered group class you will receive a program specific to your needs and work with that program during the session.
Each appointment is one hour long, plus exercises that need to be done at home between appointments. Initial treatment plans typically require 5 appointments at the end of which your progress will be evaluated.
No, we believe in a holistic approach to wellness. With your consent, we will communicate with your health care provider to ensure continuity of care.
Perhaps, you may not sweat but you will feel like you have made significant changes to your body through this gentle form of movement. You will learn how to move properly to support and balance the body.
Yes, however you will require private classes as group classes would not allow enough time for the instructor to focus on your specific issues. You may require two or more appointments per week and a home practice.
Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely; athletic wear and a sweater. For group classes bring a mat, pillow, large blanket (wool blankets are best), eye pillow if you have one.
I survived many medical close calls and had many operations. Being hospitalized
I lost muscle. This, with scaring from the operations and arthritis left me less
mobile and flexible. Indeed I was at the bottom of the fitness ladder. I knew I
wasn't capable of going to the gym or say running / walker programs. My family laughed
when I announced I was going to try yoga. Yoga is excellent. I have taken "Gentle
and Restorative Classes", "Yoga for Guys" as well as private lessons. My mission
to improve my mobility and flexibility is showing results. It is significant how
your breathing can extend your stretch / movement way passed the point that you
felt was possible. As an added bonus, I have been taught how to relax or de-stress.
I am always amazed how peaceful I feel after a yoga session. If I only I had discovered
yoga years ago.

It is said that when the student is ready, the teacher will come. I found East Village
Yoga after the birth of my twin boys. My mind and body were profoundly altered after
giving birth. At EVY, I found a place where I could get physically strong and focus
my mind. The precise instruction has helped me balance my body. The attention and
care to the process of the student has transformed my mind. I refer my friends,
my clients and my neighbours here. EVY is truly a place of community and transformation.
Thank you for all that you have done for me.
